Rob and his Fantasy Factory crew took over Six Flags at Magic Mountain park

My first introduction to Rob Dyrdek as a larger-than-life personality was on the cover of an old Big Brother skateboarding magazine. Seemingly innocuous by today’s standards, Rob’s Big Brother cover was a tribute to new-millennia excess. Featuring a chained (stuffed) cheetah, a bikini model, and Rob’s personal hooked-up Benz, this cover was the closest thing the skateboarding world had to a Puff Daddy video, and it secured his spot as one of skateboarding’s biggest celebrities.
Fast forward a decade and Rob’s personality continues to grow. Not only is he now an MTV star, he’s using his newfound fame and money to live out his dreams. And apparently one of his dreams was to kickflip a Chevrolet Sonic.
Rob and his Fantasy Factory crew took over the Six Flags at Magic Mountain parking lot so that he could realize this dream. After teaming up with Chevy and a professional stunt crew or two, Dyrdek drove a specially prepared Chevrolet Sonic up a spiral ramp, did a James Bond-style barrel roll over his oversized skateboard, and landed safely on the other side.
The team at Chevrolet already has a video of this stunt up on its web site (which you can view here). Those of you with an aversion to YouTube videos can see the black-and-orange Sonic flip out when it is featured on the season opener of Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, which will then go on to air approximately six times a day.
